If I can help just one child by Kaxen6 If I can help just one child by Kaxen6
I always hated that "If I could help/change-for-better/gotten-through-to/have-heart-to-heart one child each year, I'VE SUCCEEDED!" quote that some teachers use.

I mean... That means you could have FAILED HARD at teaching/interacting for 95% of your students and still feel satisfied with yourself!

95% would be if they only helped one kid out of a 20-kid class... give or take depending on the size of the class.

And frankly, THAT BULLSHIT DON'T FLY IN KAXEN-LAND.

...Well, I'd be a little disturbed if bullshit flew through the air at all...

Lol, my peer tutoring teacher told us that quote, saying it's the point of being a role model to younger students. Now I see the bullshit. Thank you, Dictator Kaxen :salute:

You're an insufficiently awe-inspiring role model if you only inspire a small percentage of the kids...

Then again, I'm not sure what percentage of people incite "I'M TOO AWESOME FOR YOU TO NOT WISH YOU WERE ME!"

Well... i guess if you round up all the easily-impressed children... :plotting:

I didn't say I was going to educate them to think on their own.

But an empire simply can't have trains that don't run on time.

I HATE it when teachers do that, even more so when they say it to a group of little kids. Thinking back on when my fourth grade teacher said it, it now translates into:
"I'm going to pick my favorite student and help them be the best they can be while the rest of you fail miserabbly." *cue bright smile*

That about sums it up.

I think it was my 4th grade teacher who told us that "if I could help one child" was a terrible idea. >_> She was probably the toughest elementary school teacher I had.

Speaking of 4th grade teachers... I wanted to kick my teacher down the stairs. She really only yelled at me...and only me.

*Four Years Later*

She is now the principal and I still want to kick her down the stairs.

I felt tempted to kill whoever was in charge of my school district when they for some godforesaken reason tried to reinvent two digit multiplication. >_> The new way made kids practically fill up a whole sheet of paper for some odd reason...
